Singer Joeboy exits Mr Eazi’s Empawa music as he launches own record label
Nigerian singer and songwriter, Joseph Akinfenwa Akinwale, professionally known as Joeboy, has parted ways with his record label owned by Mr Eazi, Empawa music.
The 26-year-old singer however singed a dual deal with a global music giant, Warner music, which is home to superstars like Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Burna Boy, Ckay.
With the deal, he launched his own record label, ‘Young Legend’ under the membership of Warner music.
Under his new Young Legend label, Joeboy will now serve as the CEO while label manager, Deola Jaiyesimi will be the Head of the label, responsible for nurturing the next generation of Afrobeats superstars on a global level.
It is worth noting that Mr Eazi, who is a musician and businessman, discovered Joeboy in 2017 and signed him into Empawa.
Joeboy has launched two EPs (Love & Light and Body, Soul & Spirit), two albums (Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic and Body & Soul), and a multitude of popular singles and collaborations, accumulating over 2 billion streams on major digital streaming platforms.
Joeboy, like Olamide, Don Jazzy, and his former label boss Mr. Eazi, is now leveraging his social influence and business skills to spotlight emerging talent while propelling his own musical career from a continental superstar to a global force.
He took to his Instagram page as he shared the good news with his fans, posting a ritual-themed clip announcing the launch of his record label.
He wrote, “Dawn of a new era. @younglegend4l is alive.”
