We Train Farmers On Organic Fertilizer Production and Application - Ghana Permaculture Institute
Ghana Permaculture Institute is a Not For Profit Organisation that promotes permaculture systems and social enterprises to overcome social and environmental degradation.
Ghana Permaculture Institute (GPI), seeks to consider the future feedback of human interaction with the environment. GPI uses the permaculture principles and ethics of earth care, people care and fair share in the implementation of its sustainable developmental activities and projects. GPI through its exemplary model of seeing solutions beyond problems has identified the core challenge of poverty which commits people to initiate certain actions that negatively affect the environment..
The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Permaculture Institute, Madam Agnes Ameah, has stated that her outfit has trained farmers on the proper application of fertilizers and other farm inputs at their premises.
According to her, training farmers on the proper use of fertilizers and other inputs is crucial for promoting sustainable and efficient farming practices.
“By providing this training, Ghana Permaculture is not only equipping farmers with the knowledge and skills to optimize their crop yields but also promoting environmentally friendly farming methods.” She said.
Madam Agnes Ameah continued, “proper use of fertilizers can help improve soil fertility and reduce the risk of pollution caused by excessive application of fertilizers.”
According to her their office is open for all and even some students have traveled from the northern region to learn the traditional farming system at their premises in Tanoboasie.
“we organized a program for peasant farmers on the use of organic fertilizers, weedicides and pesticides, we also organized some for some youth and they will in turn we also teach others about it. aside that, some students from Salaga, come to our place and we educated them on how to do gardens and it was very interesting.” She disclosed
She hinted that, the Ghana Permaculture Institute under her watch will on next month organized a merger event to climax this year’s activities at their premises.
“we have done a lot of educative programs this year and in this month, in the middle of November, from 15th to 18th, we have a program where we have invited an expect in honey making to talk to our farmers and teach them the process in honey making”
“in December too, we will organized a permaculture conference at our premises where we will invite all permacultures in the country and other organization and individuals to the event”. She told our reporter.
She however lamented that, some people come to the institute and pick some of their items without returning them, an attitude she says its “unfortunate” and therefore calls on such person to deist from such behavior or risk facing the law when caught .
She called on the people and persons who come there to support them by protecting their equipment for the growth of the facility.
