Forikrom Boten Caves and Shrine (Tourism In Bono Regions) || stepupghana

 

Boten is an extensive range of rocks with isolated peaks of about 100 metres from the ground level. It is located in the Bono East region, about 8km off the Techiman–Nkoranza road. The rocks are surrounded by a primeval forest containing a number of caves. 

The biggest cave known as the Magic Cave is said to have been a refuge for women and children during the ethnic wars between Asante and Bono(Techiman) centuries ago.

The Boten Shrine is a cave in the form of a cinema hall and is said to be the dweller place of the Spirit of the royal Ancestors. In the same vicinity are other fascinating rock formation of large masses of rocks interspersed with trees and caves.
