The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA), is an integral pillar of independent journalism in Ghana. The Association has over the years encouraged and ensured free, credible, reliable and unbiased journalism. 

 GIBA, held an election in Tamale, today, Thursday, February, 10, where its Northern Regional executives were elected. 

The Upper West Region was represented by delegates from the various Media Houses in the Region. 

Mr. Baba Jamal, the General Manager of Sungmaale FM, was elected as the Deputy Regional Coordinator for the Upper West Regional GIBA branch. 

In his speech, he mentioned that, it is a step up in community service. And he pledged to work diligently in high esteem, with the aid of the staff of Sungmaale FM, co-executives and the general GIBA membership. He also thanked co-staff at Sungmaale FM, colleague journalists, well wishers and the general public for their enormous support and for entrusting him with the responsibility. He ended saying, "we won together".
